The 2nd UK & Ireland Exposure Science 1-Day Meeting

Manchester Central Convention Centre, Manchester, UK
Tuesday 4th March, 2014

Exposure science is a large, diverse and multidisciplinary field that involves the study of human contact with hazardous agents. While there are many scientific meetings in which exposure scientists participate, these often have a narrow focus, concentrating on a specific environment or topic.
Our meeting offers the opportunity for UK and Ireland based exposure scientists from a diverse set of backgrounds to meet and talk about common issues as well as allowing for valuable networking opportunities.

After last year’s successful inaugural meeting, we are pleased to announce that the 2nd UK & Ireland Exposure Science 1-Day Meeting will be held in Manchester on the 4th of  March 2014. This year, the meeting has linked up with the prestigious “International Conference on Urban Health” that will start the next day in the same venue.

The target audience for the 2nd UK & Ireland Exposure Science 1-Day Meeting is those with an interest in the measurement, modelling and assessment of environmental, occupational and nutritional exposures, especially with an application to epidemiology. We would particularly like to welcome early career researchers.

The 2nd meeting will aim to discuss:

“How to bridge the gap between measured exposure and biological effective dose?”

and researchers from the UK and Ireland (and beyond), government officials, trainees and PhD students will be able to bid to give oral presentations, or posters of recent and ongoing work in the diverse areas of exposure science.

We aim to solicit contributions from a diverse range of research disciplines, including those interested in measurement, toxicology, epidemiology, risk assessment, public health, and others with expertise in measurement and assessment of exposures encountered in the general environment (air, water and soil), the occupational environment, and those with expertise in measurement and evaluation of internal exposures, target organ doses and total body burdens, with a view to identifying future multidisciplinary research strategies.

Further information on this inaugural meeting will be made available in due course. Please visit the ‘UK & Ireland Exposure Science meeting” linkedin group.
